Valerie Cartright Wins District 1 Town Council Seat

Town council seats remains with Dems after a tight win by Cartright.

Valerie Cartright has won the race  for a seat on Brookhaven's Town Council, representing District 1 with 51.65 percent of the vote, or a tally of 5,415 to 5,066.

Cartright will fill the seat left vacant by Democrat Steve Fiore-Rosenfeld who decided not to seek another term. 

Cartright, 37 of Port Jefferson Station, is civil rights attorney who works at the Law Offices of Frederick K. Brewington in Hempstead. She received a law degree from Touro College Jacob D. Fuschberg Law Center and an undergraduate degree in international studies from West Virginia University. Cartright is president of the Amistad Long Island Black Bar Association.

Snyder, 42 of Port Jefferson, is a former Port Jefferson Village Trustee. She received her bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Dowling College and at one time served on the New York State Higher Education Committee. She holds a position as a nation-wide public policy and government affairs expert.
