Viloria-Fisher To Run For Town Supervisor

Brookhaven Democratic Committee taps former Suffolk legislator as its candidate.

The Brookhaven Democratic Committee has tapped former Suffolk County legislator Vivian Viloria-Fisher to run against Republican incumbent Ed Romaine for town supervisor this year, according to a report published Thursday in Newsday.

Viloria-Fisher, a former teacher from Setauket, served the Three Village and Port Jefferson areas as county legislator from 1999 through 2011.

"She has tremendous experience with her years in the legislature," Anthony Parlatore, chairman of the Brookhaven Dems, told Newsday. "She is up on the issues. She's an extremely intelligent lady. I think she's going to be a tremendous asset."

Brookhaven GOP chairman Jesse Garcia called Viloria-Fisher a "big spender," according to Newsday

"Her record shows she will increase spending and taxes by double digits. ... I'm confident that voters will respond to the pro-taxpayer, pro-community, pro-job creation agenda that Ed Romaine will put forward in his campaign," Garcia said.
