CORRECTION: Stony Brook Beach Not Closed

County warns of potentially high bacteria levels.

Correction: The county's Department of Health Services has clarified that some of the beaches listed as closed are shut because they are either not open yet or not open to swimmers. Stony Brook Beach is included in this category.

Due to elevated bacteria levels after rainfall, one public beach has been ordered closed in the Three Village area.

The Suffolk County Department of Health Services Beach Monitoring Program is prohibiting bathers from entering the water at Stony Brook beach.

According to the county, beaches are closed when water quality is poor and/or other conditions pose a risk to public health.

The beaches will remain closed until two tidal cycles pass after the last rainfall.
