New York Live Blog Set for Presidential Debate; Join Us

Patch sites across the state will join up for one massive live discussion during the second presidential debate, this time happening on New York soil.

New York, here's your chance. As a state we're overlooked by the campaigns unless they are looking to fill up their war chests. It's a given that the Democrat will win here, so candidates don't need to spend their time and campaign cash stumping on the Empire State.

But perhaps one of the biggest campaign events of the season, the second presidential debate, will happen Tuesday on New York soil. So let's come out in force for the event.

Patch's 75 sites in the state, spread throughout Long Island, the Hudson Valley, Queens and Brooklyn, will host a single live blog on Tuesday for all of our readers to join and chat with one another about the occasion. We've seen some incredible conversations in past live blogs, and want to go even bigger this time.

To participate, visit your local Patch on your computers starting at 8:30 p.m., and you'll see our Live Blog post front-and-center. If you've never joined a live blog, it's easy. Just follow along and add your comments in the box. It's a lot of fun.

Also, if you use Twitter and will be tweeting during the debate, add the #NYPatch hashtag and we'll pull those tweets right into our live blog.

Since the debate is happening at Long Island's Hofstra University, in Hempstead, New York, we're going to have a lot of great coverage of what's happening on the ground here. The live blog will keep followers up to date on all of those stories as they evolve.

If you want a reminder, you can RSVP to this Facebook event here.

We can't wait.

forget my awful record and the destruction i have caused to the economy and the morality of our country. it doesnt matter that i am pushing for a welfare state and dependence on government. forget the massive debt that will colapse the economy and create depressed youth and 3rd world status the US. none of that matter because he said 47 percent...how terrible is that? 47 percent! can you believe that? 47!

All I want to know is THE TRUTH!!!!! Should ask all the "so-called-politicians" to finally TELL THE TRUTH the whole truth and as Jack Nicholson infamous saying "Yes we can handle the truth!"
Frank T October 16, 2012 at 02:05 PM
I believe he said "You CAN'T handle the truth!"

They cannot tell "the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.". Politics is all about getting what you want by (just about) any means necessary. Bending the law; working to the letter of the law to evade the spirit of the law when the spirit of the law won't obtain the objective; sometimes even breaking the law (but how many of us are so unschooled in the laws that we don't recognize the infractions? I'm totally guilty of that.). Just like that one captain-of-industry (who appears to be on trial...) said in that ad for The History Channel show "The Men Who Built America," "You call it monopoly.....I call it enterprise!". And he didn't mean Kirk's starship! It's compromise & back room deals & deals with the devil.....but, the news travels faster now than it did 40 years ago, so we've got a FULLER picture now, but it certainly isn't necessarily clearer. I say just make sure you participate. Listen. Think. And for goodness sake, VOTE!! And no lame-o excuses like, "I don't like my choices," or "what's the point? Obama's/Romney's got it in the bag!" Go. Out. There. And. Vote.

Candy Crowley?? too bad its not Monica Crowley instead! We all know this time the Left is out to tear up Mitt to save the empty suit....the Left is always trying to divide America by class, race, etc...

Lesser of two evils. Cecil of two lessors. What a choice once again. Honest politician is an oxymoron.

Romney stands there with a stupid smirk on his face. He doesn't have a clue.
Sally Elizabeth October 17, 2012 at 07:28 PM
I will vote for Romney because I beleive he can do a better job, he believe in God and has a good heart. He serve the people all the time. He is honest, concern with our country and sincere. He is the best!!!!

You madam, need a grammar lesson.

I love this comment from Paul Begala, admittedly biased, but it is spot on and funny. "And while President Obama thrashed Mitt Romney on everything from Planned Parenthood funding to tax breaks for billionaires, Romney looked more awkward than the Queen in a cow chip tossing contest"

Forget the fact that I've sent more jobs overseas than i created here. Don't worry about my tex returns or the off shore bank accounts I hide my money in. Never mind the fact that I want to cut educational programs to arm potential terrorists posing as Syrian rebels in their civil war. Don't even mention the fact that i don't care about 47% of you pauper heathens that don't want to work! And don't even get me started on how I treat my dog! LIBYA! LIBYA! LIBYA!
