Last Chance: Put Brush Debris to the Curb for Town-Wide Special Pickup

Highway superintendent reminds residents to put bulk brush debris out by Sunday evening.

Brookhaven highway crews are getting ready to make one last special sweep through town to pick up tree limbs, trunks, branches, bushes and any other vegetative debris homeowners may have.

If you've got stuff to get rid of, you must put it out by Sunday evening before crews begin to pick it up Monday.

According to a release sent by Highway Superintendent Dan Losquadro, debris does not need to be bundled for this special pickup. If you miss this special pickup, then you will have to prepare and bundle your debris yourself. Visit www.brookhaven.org or call 451-TOWN (8696) for more information.

Losquadro said the special pickup is part of a plan to clean up the streets and repair what needs to be fixed. Following the special pickup, road sweepers will make a pass through town to get ready for the anticipated roadway repairs.

“Our severe fall and winter weather left residents with large amounts of yard debris and now that it’s spring clean-up time, they need to get rid of it,” Losquadro said in a statement. “This bulk pick-up is a great opportunity to do just that and at the same time assist the Town in our efforts to make the needed repairs to our roads. I urge everyone to take advantage of the special pick-up because once we’re done with their street they’ll have to go back to preparing it for Waste Management which is certainly more work.”
