Brookhaven Asks Residents to Report Un-Plowed Roads Online

Brookhaven Town creates web-based form for residents to report unplowed roads.

Residents tired of waiting for plows to reach their streets after the blizzard can file a report through Brookhaven's website.

Town officials Saturday afternoon unveiled an on-line form on Brookhaven's website that allows residents to report those roads still needing to be plowed. Officials are also asking residents to use the form rather than calling as all crews have been deployed.

Officials said the form is easy to use, requiring six pieces of information: first name, last name, e-mail address, street that needs to be plowed, the nearest cross street and what hamlet the street is located.

Residents may also keep an eye on the Town's website for updated weather information and other information.

Jamie.....listen to me very carefully, and I'm being very serious. Ed Romaine is away in Florida on vacation. He doesn't give a sweet shit. The plows will be there when they get there, and believe me, not one of the Town Crooks gives a good goddamn for you, me, or anyone else not tied into their private fifedom...and we both know NO ONE will be held accountable. It didn't happen following the Sandy fiasco, and it won't happen now. Brookhaven is a celebration of cronyism at its worst.

Pete you are right!!!! So sorry I moved here

Pete Tell us how you really feel. Don't hold back this time. Too funny. I totally agree with your frustration. However in your next posts I'm not sure it's fair to say town workers are taking bribes. Unless you have e facts most of these guys are just working schleps like the rest of us.now the upper management their just over their heads here. A lot of post saying vote for Walsh. Why? What makes her so talented? What experience does she have? Does she know when to send plows out? Does she understand salt to road lane mile? Doubtful. Need experience ,not politician.

Most of the "main roads" that were blocked with cars are the responsibility of the county and the state, where are the town plows?

I called, I was told all Brookhaven plows were on the LIE yesterday. I asked why since that was a state road. I was told everyone needs help- duh. I asked to be transfered to the supervisors office and guess what no answer-- Romaine has got to go!!!!!

Good luck with the website. I filled it out about a dozen times since Saturday and it's almost 2 pm MONDAY and NOT A SINGLE PLOW (other than my husband with our tractor and some neighbors with their small plows and snowblowers) has come down our street AT ALL since the storm started. I've called the town dozens of times...the ONLY time I didn't get a busy signal, I was put on hold and then disconnected. We own 2 homes in Brookhaven and pay close to $25k in property taxes. NEITHER neighborhood has been plowed.

A post on News 12 by one of the private hire plows that the town uses gives a telling story about why my neighbors and I had to clear the street ourselves: "it snowed 26 inches in 2009 and nothing like this!!we dont plow for Town of Brookhaven anymore 3 yrs ago they tripled the amount of ins u would need and it was way toooo steep for my blood and 100s of others so they lost many hire ons but didnt care because it hadnt really snowed now we have a storm and I am shocked at how bad our rds are" comment posted on: Brookhaven Deputy Supervisor Panico: Unplowed roads 'unacceptable' longisland.news12.com

What we need is to remember their absence...vacation, taking sick time during the biggest highway crisis in 35 years, by voting them OUT of OFFICE. Then they can take all the ime off they want, and I won't give a damn. The gall of these two jokers!!
Brian February 12, 2013 at 01:18 AM
Isn't that part of the problem? John is not in office and yet you go to the town web site and you could not even tell. They can't even update the web site 5 weeks after he left office. That, my friends, is indicative of the problems and where they lie. Absolute incompetence.
Brian February 12, 2013 at 01:20 AM
Man, they were all out in force celebrating the great job done to clear the roads of the snow in Jan 2011. Where are they now? http://www.brookhaven.org/PressRoom/tabid/56/newsid970/931/Default.aspx

Andy "Il Sfachimo Jr. " Cuomo is nothing but a two-bit grandstanding jerk. His father was a schmuck, and he's a schmuck...the moron doesn't fall far from the tree.

i know three contractors who say they will not plow for brookhaven because they have not been paid for the plow work for last two years, and will not plow till they are paid, they also said they know dozens of other guys that will not plow, ever wonder why the store parking lots are down to the blacktop but not the streets??
pete picca February 12, 2013 at 02:15 PM
Yeah....people forget way too easily, and vote the same gang of crooks right back in. Even if you replace them, they immedialy exercise their God-given right to bring in their buddies and contributors to fill all those patronage jobs. You can't win, no matter who you vote for. Gov. George Wallace once said that :there ain't a dimes worth of difference between no democrats and republicans"....love him or hate him, he was right on target. We're the ones at fault for constantly filling these offices with crooks, criminals, and perverts.

I understand new insurance regulations were forced on the independant contractors who do the major share of plowing on secondary and tertiary roads in Brookhaven. Due to these new requirements, most contractors seemed to have opted out. I don't know if this true or not, but it certainly seems as such. Personally, I would think that the bribe demands from town officials probably got too high.
