Alleged Illegal Rooming House Owner Headed to Court

Town working with owner to bring the house into compliance with housing code.

An Oct. 20 District Court date is set for the owner of 150 Christian Avenue, a house as an illegal rooming house.

"The town is working together with the property owner to bring the house into compliance with town code," Jack Krieger, Brookhaven's public information officer, told Patch in an email on Wednesday.

In April, the town charged homeowner Steven Paul Graziano with 10 violations, including no rental permit, no certificate of occupancy for two apartments and the basement, no permit for construction of two apartments and the basement and more, amounting to $24,000 in fines.

At that time, nearby neighbors had observed late-night parties and noise coming from the property. The house may have been home to a university party scene; a Twitter account, @stonypartyup, celebrated Stony Brook University party spots and tweeted the address 150 Christian Avenue on Sept. 3, 2010.

Graziano could not be reached for comment.
