UPDATE: Water Main Break at Stony Brook Fixed

Break was discovered early Thursday morning.

UPDATE, 3:27 p.m. – University officials are reporting the water main break has been repaired.

A water main break at the South Campus entrance at Stony Brook has disabled water in buildings in that part of campus, according to a news alert issued Thursday morning by Stony Brook's Emergency Operations Center.

The break was discovered at approximately 6 a.m. Thursday, and university officials estimate the damage will be repaired by 12 p.m.

"Facilities personnel are currently working feverishly to isolate and repair the damage," university police chief Robert J. Lenahan said in an email to the Stony Brook University community.
