Two Killed in Ronkonkoma Crash

A woman from Stony Brook and a man from Ronkonkoma were pronounced dead on the scene.

Police are investigating a head-on collision Saturday night on Smithtown Ave. in Ronkonkoma that killed a driver and a passenger, police said Sunday.

Brian Mullady, 33, of Ronkonkoma, and Andrea Giattino, 19, of Stony Brook, were pronounced dead on the scene. A third person, Justin Quaranta, 23, of Ronkonkoma, was treated at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center and released. Giattino was a passenger in Quaranta's vehicle.

According to police, Mullady was headed south on Smithtown Ave. when his 2001 Dodge pickup truck crossed over into the northbound side near Marconi Ave. and struck Quaranta's 2004 Cadillac Escalade head-on at 11:46 p.m.

Police impounded both vehicles for safety checks, and are asking anyone with information on the incident to call Fifth Squad detectives at 631-852-8552.
