School Security Vehicle Damaged in High School Parking Lot

Incident is being investigated as third-degree criminal mischief.

An unknown person smashed the front windshield, rear passenger-side window, and roof light bar on a school security vehicle while it was parked in a lot at Ward Melville High School last weekend, according to a police report.

The incident occurred between midnight and 7 a.m. on Sunday. It is being investigated as an incident of criminal mischief.

The damaged vehicle is a white 1993 Ford Taurus.

The district said in a statement to Patch: "From time to time, the District will experience vandalism. The cost of repair is approximately $500. The District is not aware of anything being taken from the vehicle and the police are investigating the incident."
