Cops: South Setauket Man Robbed 4 Jewelry Stores

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Suffolk County police have arrested a South Setauket man and a Deer Park woman whom they say were responsible for a series of jewelry store thefts in Suffolk over the past month.

Daniel Cimolonski, 32, was charged with four counts of third-degree grand larceny, a felony; fourth-degree grand Larceny, a felony; and criminal possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors. His girlfriend, Kristie Laird, 45, was charged as an accomplice in one of the robberies.

Cimolonski is said to have stolen from Tourneau Walt Whitman in Huntington Station, Golden Island Jewelry in Commack, Zales Jewelers in Deer Park and Diamond Exchange Jeweler in Medford. He was also charged with fourth-degree grand larceny for allegedly robbing a man at Burger King in Bay Shore on Tuesday.

Suffolk police made the arrests during a routine traffic stop in Deer Park at the corner of Bay Shore Road and Crown Street at  4:45 p.m. They believe the couple may have been responsible for similar jewelry store thefts in Nassau County as well.

Cimolonski and Laird are awaiting arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip.
