Robbers Steal Cash from JC Penney Registers

Suffolk County police seek public help in identifying three men who allegedly robbed Smith Haven Mall.

Suffolk County police are searching for two men who allegedly broken into the cash registers at JC Penney in Smith Haven Mall. 

Police report that three men entered JC Penney inside Lake Grove's Smith Haven Mall on Dec. 18, 2011. One of the men, wearing a green hat and with a mustache, pried open a cash register in the women's coat section. Police estimate he stole $158 in cash from the register. 

The two other men allegedly served as lookouts while the third man pried open the cash register. 

Police are asking for anyone with information about this crime to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-220-TIPS. Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.

It's a good thing that the police was able to catch the thieves. I heard that the store was doing its best to attract more customers. Today, J.C. Penney, the nationwide store chain, is canceling the bulk of the sales events at its stores from now on.
