A Port Jefferson Station man who was found lying on the ground on Friday was later arrested on charges of harassment and resisting arrest.

James McGrane, 42, was found lying on the ground near in Stony Brook by a passerby who called 911.

When police and emergency responders arrived, they say McGrane initially said he was punched, and he refused medical attention. Police say McGrane, who appeared to be intoxicated, then pushed and spit on an officer.

just to get the record straight, I was assaulted by three men in the back of the bench wich is a bar near the campus ,when they found me left to die , I was unconscious and when they brought me to I was choking on my own blood that's how I ended up spitting accidentally on the police officer and at that time I could not see out of my eyes I thought I was being assaulted again and struggled and the police officer fell over the emt and supposedly hurt himself wich I am sorry for ,then they took me sbu hospital for treatment ,then arrested me afterwards. they never investigated the assault on me ,never questioned one person . when I went to court to answer the charges on me the judge was in shock when he saw the pictures of my head and face ,he dismissed the charges immediately . just for the record!
