Police Investigating Identity Theft, Grand Larceny at Hospital

No arrests have been made following the incident.

An unknown individual took a debit card from a patient at Stony Brook University Medical Center and used it to make purchases between Oct. 7 and Dec. 5, according to a police report.

Police said the female patient had an extended stay at the hospital, and reported the incident on Dec. 6. It is being investigated as an instance of both identity theft and grand larceny. No arrests have been made.

The hospital was unable to comment immediately on the incident.
