PHOTOS: Setauket Fire Department Begins Memorial Expansion

Local companies donated materials and labor to help complete the project.

The Setauket Fire Department's 9/11 memorial expansion is under way at the Nicolls Road firehouse, fire officials said. The memorial is being expanded to include a "wall of remembrance" that will feature the names of those who died in the Sept. 11, 2011 terrorist attacks engraved in granite, along with a five-foot-wide brick pathway.

On Wednesday, workers from Four-D Landscaping, which provided the labor for the project for free, dug a foundation for the granite wall and poured cement donated by the Jos M Troffa company.

The memorial is set to be dedicated at the fire department's memorial ceremony on Sept. 11. The fire department is still selling engraved bricks to help fund the memorial expansion. For more information on how to buy a brick, .
