No injuries were reported after an accident involving a car and a mini school bus on Old Town Road at approximately 2:16 p.m. Thursday, according to police and fire reports.
Barbara Gildea, transportation supervisor for the Three Village school district, said there were two students aboard the bus at the time of the accident, which occurred near the intersection of Old Town Road and Elm Street in East Setauket.
"They haven't given us a cause, but it did involve another passenger car collliding into the school bus," Gildea said.
The bus had just left , which dismisses students at 2:01 p.m. The accident slowed traffic in both directions on Old Town Road but did not force a closure. Gildea said another mini bus was dispatched to take the students home as soon as emergency officials determined it was safe to do so, and parents were notified immediately.
The Setauket Fire Department's ambulance corps and Suffolk County Sixth Precinct police officers responded to the call for assistance. Safety supervisors from the Three Village school district also responded.
