UPDATE: Cops ID Hit-and-Run Victim
An investigation into the crime is ongoing after a man was struck and killed on the street on which he lived.
Updated, 4 p.m.: Police identified the man who was struck and killed on Ridgeway Avenue early Friday morning as 47-year-old Joseph Santiago, of 55 Ridgeway Ave.
No further details were released. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
Original story: Suffolk County Police are investigating a hit-and-run they say occurred early Friday morning that left a man dead.
Police have yet to identify the man, who was killed by a car driving westbound on Ridgeway Avenue around 1:20 a.m. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant with the County Medical Examiner's Office.
Police are asking anyone with information about the crash to call the department's vehicular crimes unit at 631-852-6555, or to anonymously call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
