Hit-and-Run Crash Seriously Injures Three In Melville

A tractor-trailer struck a 2002 Saturn in Melville, seriously injuring the three passengers inside, before fleeing the scene.

A hit-and-run crash seriously injured three people in Melville, Suffolk Police report.

On Friday, June 27 at approximately 2:25 a.m., a tractor-trailer traveling west on the Long Island Expressway North Service Road struck a 2002 black Saturn that was headed northbound on Walt Whitman Road. The tractor-trailer may have sustained some front-end damage, but fled the scene.

The driver of the Saturn, Andrew Shikora, 24, of East Meadow, passenger Julia Moore, 21, from Florida, and another female passenger from Florida were taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow where they are being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
