Firefighters Contain Setauket House Fire

Tuesday evening fire started in the garage.

Firefighters successfully extinguished a fire at a home on Setalcott Place North in Setauket before the blaze could destroy the entire home on Tuesday, according to a fire department report.

Setauket FD Chief Brendan Brown said the fire started in the garage, before traveling up to the home's attic and a bedroom on the second floor, but firefighters were able to control the fire before it spread further. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

The fire was reported at 4:11 p.m. One firefighter was taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center and treated for dehydration.
