Fire Rips Through Stony Brook Home

Kitchen fire spreads through home on North Road Saturday morning.

On Saturday morning, the Setauket Fire Department was notified of a reported kitchen fire within a residential structure at 6 North Road off Old Woods Road in Stony Brook. 

The incident occurred around 10:53 a.m. Upon arrival of Setauket Fire Department 1st Assistant Chief Thomas Makarius, a working fire was transmitted. Mutual aid was requested from the Port Jefferson Fire Department, Stony Brook Fire Department, Centereach Fire Department, Selden Fire Department, Port Jefferson Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the Stony Brook Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

According to an official on scene the fire started in the kitchen and spread to the rest of the one-story ranch style home. All units from the Setauket Fire Department as well as neighboring mutual aid departments were released from the scene at 12:01 p.m.

No one was hurt in the fire, which is currently under investigation by the Brookhaven Fire Marshal's Office.
