The Setauket and Stony Brook fire departments responded to a house fire early Saturday morning in the S section in Stony Brook.
The fire at 7 Shelbourne Lane started outside, went up the siding and worked its way inside the roof. Extensive damage was reported to the second floor and to the roof as the flames were in a crawl space and between the roof and sheetrock.
The alarm at the Setauket FD sounded at 12:29 a.m.; units from all three of Setauket’s fire companies responded to the fire, and Stony Brook FD provided a rapid intervention team. Firefighter John O’Rourk rescued a small dog from within the home.
The fire was reported to have been under control by 2:01 a.m.
