Downed Pole Knocks Out Power to 1,400 in Stony Brook

Several traffic lights are out.

More than 1,400 Stony Brook residents are without power this morning due to a downed pole on Rt. 347.

Suffolk County police said a car crashed into a utility pole by the Burger King on Rt. 347. Traffic lights are out from Rt. 347 west to Nicolls Rd. and from Nicolls Rd. to Rt. 25. Police are directing traffic out of the area. 

According to the Long Island Power Authority 1,428 customers are without power as of 8:30 a.m.

According to police, there were no injuries in the crash, which was reported at 7:37 a.m.
