District Attorney: E. Setauket Burglary Suspects Traumatized Dog

The four suspects police say are responsible for burglarizing multiple homes also harmed the family dog, Newsday reports.

The Suffolk District Attorney has said the four suspects arrested last week in connection with a burglary in East Setauket also traumatized the family's dog by spraying it with a fire extinguisher, Newsday reported Friday.

The latest allegation came after reports that the suspects – Colleen Elam of Selden, Maurice Jones of Centereach, Darnell Lofton of Middle Island, and Sion Sosa of Centereach – had vandalized the home they were attempting to rob. Newsday reported they clogged the drains in the house and turned on the faucets, which eventually flooded the house and collapsed a ceiling. They are also accused of damaging a $30,000 piano by spraying it with a fire extinguisher, then sprayed the family's dog.

At their arraignments Friday, Elam, Jones and Lofton pleaded not guilty, Newsday reported. Assistant District Attorney Erin Cho said Lofton was the ringleader. Sosa will be arraigned next week.
