Crimes Nearby: String of Car Robberies in Port Jeff Station

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

SMITHTOWN

Cash was reported stolen from a lockbox at Body Worx Tanning on Friday, according to Suffolk County police.

Police said the store, located at 24 E. Main St. in Smithtown, was not broken into and the money reportedly went missing sometime between June 5 and Friday.

Police are asking anyone with information to call them at 631-854-8400.

PORT JEFFERSON

Suffolk County police arrested a Mt. Sinai man whom they said illegally possessed a handgun. Daniel Goble, 28, was arrested on June 14 at his house in Mt. Sinai and was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony. Police said he had a loaded 9 mm gun at his house. A police spokesperson could not say why officers had been called to the house. According to court records, Goble was held on $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond and was due back in court on Wednesday.

 Suffolk County police are investigating a pair of incidents involving thefts from unlocked cars. A resident of Katherine Street in Port Jefferson Station reported that someone stole a wallet from an unlocked car, which was parked in her driveway, sometime between 5 p.m. on June 13 and 6:30 a.m. on June 14. A resident of Overton Avenue in Port Jefferson reported that someone stole multiple debit and credit cards from inside an unlocked car, which was parked in the driveway, sometime between 10 p.m. on June 13 and 7:30 a.m. on June 14.
