Crimes Nearby: Man Punches Paramedic Trying to Treat Him after Bar Fight

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Port Jefferson

• A manager at Ogden's Designs & Plantings in Port Jefferson Station reported that someone stole tools and equipment from a truck and a utility trailer parked in a rear parking lot. The thefts occurred sometime between 7 p.m. on July 26 and 7 a.m. on July 27.

• The management at Mt. Sinai Bagel on Route 347 in Mt. Sinai reported that someone smashed the glass front door, entered the eatery and stole cash from the register at approximately midnight on July 29.

• A man reported being assaulted by an acquaintance over the alleged theft of $5 from a mutual friend. The victim required medical attention at St. Charles Hospital for injuries to his face and elbow. The incident occurred on Morris Street in Port Jefferson at approximately 6:30 p.m. on July 2.

Miller Place

• Michael Connolly, of St. James, was arrested on a felony DWI charge on Aug. 3 after police said he was caught driving drunk for the second time within the past 10 years. Police said the 32-year-old was driving westbound on Route 25A in Miller Place, near Miller Place Road, when he was involved in a crash around 8:45 p.m. No serious injuries were reported.

Smithtown

• A 21-year-old Brentwood man quickly went from being a victim to being in handcuffs. The man was being treated for injuries he received during an assault in a Smithtown bar when he punched a paramedic who was treating him, Suffolk County police said.  The 21-year-old was at Halo Lounge on West Main Street on Aug. 2 at about 3:30 a.m when he was reportedly assaulted. The paramedic was trying to help him, when the victim punched him in the face. The man was arrested on a charge of obstructing emergency medical service, which is a misdemeanor.
