Crimes Nearby: Man Arrested for Allegedly Forging Prescriptions

Andre Machate, 41, of St. James was arrested Feb. 17 and charged with third-degree burglary with intent, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and second-degree forgery of a medical prescription. Police said Machate entered CVS in Nesconset and

Stephen Valdez, 48, of Lake Ronkonkoma, was arrested in Hauppauge Feb. 17 and charged with menacing, second-degree harassment and second-degree obstruction of government administration. Police said Valdez approached and threatened someone with an ax and knife. Then, Valdez punched the police officer who responded to the scene, according to police reports.

Emmanuel Amaral, 42, of Smithtown, was arrested in Smithtown on Feb. 15 on charges of third-degree grand larceny. Amaral was arrested on Brooksite Drive for allegedly taking $4,800 from a person to purchase a 2006 Ford van and never gave the person the van or the money back.

Philip Lobianco, 18, of Nesconset, and Bogdan Makartchuk, 18, of St. James, were arrested on Feb. 18 in St. James on third-degree possession of a forged instrument charges. Reports state Lobianco and Makartchuk forged New York State learners permits to purchase tobacco products on Lake Avenue.

John Jakob, 19, of Selden, was arrested on Kara Court in Port Jefferson Station on Feb. 19 at 9:59 p.m. and charged with fleeing a police officer. According to police, when a marked police car tried to pull Jakob over he allegedly sped away.

A 16-year old male from Mount Sinai was arrested on Feb. 14 at 12:45 a.m. and charged with assault. Police say that he allegedly hit another person in the mouth with a liquor bottle, knocking out two teeth. The injured person was taken to .

Kwyn Traylor, 31, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested at his home in Port Jefferson Station on Feb. 14 at 11 p.m. and charged with petty larceny. Police say Traylor allegedly took rims and tires off of a vehicle on Warren Ave. in Ronkonkoma.

Arthur Meyers, 65, of Port Jefferson Station, was arrested in Port Jefferson Station on Feb. 13 at 3:50 p.m. and charged with menacing. Police say that Meyers went to a business located at 650 Route 112 in Port Jefferson Station and allegedly threatened an employee, appearing to show a weapon.

Four were arrested Feb. 15 in Coram and charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Julie Terveen, 21, and Frank Potter, 24, of Sound Beach, and John Kaastra, 29, and Nicholas Roosa, 26, of Rocky Point, were arrested in a 2002 Mercury Sable. Potter was also charged with fourth degree criminal weapons possession for allegedly having a gravity knife.
