Crimes Nearby: DWI, Prescription Drug Charges Among Recent Arrests

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Margaret Rooney, 28, of Middle Island, was arrested in Smithtown on April 12 at 8:50 p.m. on seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance charges. Reports state Rooney was arrested at the Smith Haven Mall seated in a 2004 Toyota Camry while in possession of prescription pills.

A 17-year-old girl from Selden was arrested in Smithtown on April 11 at 10:52 p.m. on seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance charges. Reports state she was arrested at the fourth precinct for being in possession of prescription drugs.

William Byrus, 20, of Hauppauge, was charged with possession of a hypodermic needle and possession of marijuana on April 9. Police said Byrus was at Glenwood Drive in Hauppauge at 12:30 p.m. when he was charged.

Nicholas Provenzano, 25, of Rocky Point, was arrested April 12 in Lake Grove and charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Provenzano was arrested in the parking lot of the Smith Haven Mall.

Ann Susan Micari, 59, of Rocky Point, was arrested April 10 and charged with petty larceny. Micari allegedly stole numerous fashion jewelry items from a location on 25A in Rocky Point.

Ryan O’Toole, 23, of Hauppauge, was charged with driving while intoxicated. Police said O’Toole was driving a 2003 Mitsubishi on Landing Avenue and Route 25 at 2:42 a.m. when he was charged with DWI.

Vincent Spielman, 27, of Coram, was arrested April 12 in Mt. Sinai and charged with first offense DWI. Spileman was operating his 2000 Chevrolet on Route 25A and School Street when he was arrested for DWI for driving over the speed limit and failing to maintain his lane, Police said.

Gerson Mata, 22, of Hauppauge, was charged with violating an order of protection on April 7 in Bay Shore.

Joseph George, 46, of Hauppauge, was charged with operating a vehicle without an interlock device installed. Police said Joseph was on Oakdale Bohemia Road in Oakdale when he was found to be operating a vehicle without the interlock device.
