Crime Report: Stony Brook Woman Accused of Check Fraud
The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County police department. It does not indicate a conviction.
Leah Carillo, 24, of Stony Brook, was arrested Nov. 16 in Stony Brook and charged with third-degree grand larceny, a felony that indicates a crime involving a monetary value between $3,000 and $50,000. Police said Carillo wrote four unauthorized checks at a dentist's office in Stony Brook in excess of $4,000 between July and November of 2012.
Walter Tobon, 23, of Patchogue, was arrested Nov. 16 in Stony Brook and charged with first-offense DWI, a misdemeanor. Police said Tobon was intoxicated when he crashed into a utility pole on Sheep Pasture Road.
Melvin Harris, 29, of East Setauket, was arrested Nov. 16 in Hauppauge and charged with first-offense DWI, a misdemeanor. Police pulled Harris over for speeding on Route 347 at 3:50 a.m.
