Crime Report: Shoplifters Attempt to Steal Copper Wire, Water Filters and Ice Cream
Two first-offense DWIs also reported.
The following information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.
Stephan Tiarks, 47, of St. James was arrested April 25 in Stony Brook and charged with petit larceny. Reports state Tiarks allegedly stole a roll of copper wire from a Lowes Home Improvement Store.
David Singh, 26, of Lake Ronkonkoma was arrested April 25 in Setauket and charged with petit larceny. Reports state Singh allegedly stole water filters from the Home Depot located in South Setauket.

Robert Latour, 45, of Stony Brook was arrested April 24 in Mount Sinai and charged with first offense DWI. Reports state Latour was driving his 2002 Volvo westbound on Route 25A at Chestnut Street in Mount Sinai, and allegedly failed to maintain his lane.
Guru Switzoor, 41, of East Setauket was arrested April 24 in Setauket and charged with first offense DWI. Reports state Switzoor allegedly operated a 2001 Nissan at approximately 3:18 a.m. at a high rate of speed. Upon being pulled over, the officer noticed Switzoor was allegedly intoxicated.

Thomas Redwin, 29, of Riverhead was arrested April 19 in Setauket and charged with petit larceny. Reports state Redwin allegedly exited a Stop & Shop with a pint of java chip ice cream without paying.
