Crime Report: Police Investigating Multiple Grand Larcenies

Incidents took place at local businesses.

Suffolk police are investigating an incident of fourth-degree grand larceny, a misdemeanor, in which an employee at a business at 33 Research Way in East Setauket reported someone broke into her 2011 Nissan Maxima and stole a pocket book, wallet, cash, credit cards, and personal papers. The incident took place Oct. 17 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Suffolk police are investigating an incident of third-degree grand larceny, a felony, in which someone made multiple returns of stolen merchandise at Lowe's Home Improvements using different identities between Oct. 10 and Oct. 18.

Joseph Santiago, 46, of Setauket, was arrested Oct. 19 and charged with second-degree criminal trespass, a misdemeanor. According to police, Santiago broke into a house on Route 112 in Brookhaven by climbing through a window shortly before midnight.
