Crash Outside Stony Brook Hospital Entrance Fatal for Coram Man

Police believe the 62-year-old man may have suffered a medical emergency.

A Coram man was killed in an early morning single car-crash Thursday after his car hit a guardrail on Nicolls Road outside of the north entrance at Stony Brook Hospital.

Police said Stanley Zinger, 62, was driving a 2005 Toyota Camry north on Nicolls Road around 7 a.m., when his car went off the road, striking a guardrail and then hit trees. Zinger was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives investigating the crash believe Zinger may have suffered a medical emergency. They are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call the sixth squad at 631 854-8652,
