County Conducts Arson Investigation at Stony Brook University

Nov. 14 incident took place at Stimson College building.

The Suffolk County Police Arson Squad is investigating an incident at a Stony Brook University residence hall as possible arson, a university spokesperson said Wednesday.

On Nov. 14, university police and fire marshals responded to a report that someone had set fire to a flyer posted on a stairwell door at Stimson College. Two other doors in the building were found to have the same damage.

"The fires did not activate smoke or heat alarms and the damage was confined to the doors themselves," said university spokeswoman Lauren Sheprow.
