Four Homes Burglarized in One Day

Two homes in Stony Brook and two homes in Setauket were broken into.

Suffolk County police are investigating four burglaries reported April 16 – including two instances where pairs of next-door homes were broken into.

According to reports, in Stony Brook, two adjacent homes on Christian Avenue were broken into between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2:20 p.m. on April 16. In one instance, the front door was forced open and a bottle of pills was stolen from the bathroom; in the second instance, jewelry was stolen from an upstairs bedroom.

In Setauket, two homes on Old Post Road were also burglarized on April 16. In one instance, a house cleaner entered the residence to find that the side door had been kicked in. That individual found open drawers and other signs of burglary, and police determined that jewelry and cash had been stolen. The incident took place between 7 a.m. and 11:10 a.m. In the second instance, an adjacent home was broken into between 9:15 a.m. and 11 a.m., and jewelry and cash were also taken.

A police spokesman said the investigation is ongoing.
