Cops: East Moriches Man Arrested in Stony Brook Rape

Patrick O'Sullivan, 20, will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Dec. 2.

An East Moriches man was arrested Saturday and charged with committing a sexual assault in Stony Brook on Nov. 20.

According to Suffolk County Police, Patrick O'Sullivan, 20, was arrested on multiple charges including first-degree rape, first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal sexual act, second-degree kidnapping and first-degree criminal use of a firearm.

O'Sullivan is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Dec. 2.

Police said Friday afternoon that an armed, masked white man about 5-foot-10 with a medium build committed a sexual assault in a Stony Brook home between 11 and 11:30 p.m. Cops said he had entered the home through an unlocked door and was in possession of a rifle at the time of the incident.

The part of Stony Brook where the assault occurred was not stated.

No other similar assaults have occurred in the area, according to police, and Sixth Precinct Det. Lt. William Burke told Newsday that locals should not be concerned of a repeat attack.

"It's a different type of person that would do this as opposed to a burglary where they're going in, taking jewelry and leaving during the day, when nobody's home," said Sixth Precinct Det. Lt. William Burke.

this kid was a victim of society. violently abused as a child by parents on drugs and then adopted after years of abuse. REcently homeless since october and not taking medication for his bi-polar condition. this young man needs help not prison. what he did was a horrific crime and society has failed him ... Help him now ... Drugs, video games, violent abuse as a youngster, homeless on the street living out of his car and not taking medication that was needed for his mental stability. This young man broke and had a mental breakdown AND needs to get the HELP he desperately needs and that is not jail but a place that can HELP HIM!

we don't help our sick and homeless. we trow them out on the street and leave them there because they are no longer functional to our society. we do the same with our elderly. once they no longer give to society then we put them in nursing homes to rot. too bad the people today are so selfish. years ago families took care of their sick and elderly. today we don't have time because we think we are too important. watch what happens when this generation gets old. their little ones are watching what they do and god help them.
