Body Found Alongside Nichols Road in Stony Brook
Victim identified as E. Setauket man who had been missing since June 18.
A pedestrian heading north on Nichols Road in Stony Brook discovered the body of a man in a heavily wooded area around 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, according to police reports.
Police are investigating the death of the man, whom they tentatively identified as John Heiberger, 46, of East Setauket. The cause of death is not known.
Heiberger has been missing since June 18, when he sought treatment for an undisclosed ailment at Stony Brook University Medical Center and then went missing from the hospital's triage area, police reports said.

The Suffolk County Medical Examiner will conduct a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death.
