Accident with Fuel Spill Shuts Oxhead Road

No injuries were reported.

A sport utility vehicle and a commercial truck collided Monday afternoon on Oxhead Road, shutting the street between Nicolls Road and Murphy Junior High for at least an hour and a half while a fuel spill was cleaned up.

No one was injured in the accident, which happened at approximately 3 p.m. near the intersection of Oxhead and Ballad Road. A fire department official at the scene said its exact cause was undetermined.

The fuel spill was "a diesel fuel spill of unknown volume," according to Lt. Scott Gressin of the Setauket Fire Department.
