3-Car Accident Backs Up Traffic on Stony Brook Road

One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

One woman was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with minor injuries following a minor three-car crash on Stony Brook Road early Wednesday evening.

Rush-hour traffic on Stony Brook Road at Campus Lane was backed up briefly between 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. while the Stony Brook Fire Department and Suffolk County Police Department responded to the accident.

Police and fire officers at the scene said the minor crash was caused by one vehicle that allegedly stopped short, causing a chain reaction with two other vehicles. The accident involved one SUV and two cars, neither of which were moving faster than 10 miles per hour, officers said.
