Police: 3 Charged for Sale of Alcohol to Minors

Three clerks were arrested, including a 29-year-old Coram man working at the BP gas station on Rt. 347 in Centereach.

Suffolk County Police arrested three men after police said they sold alcohol to a minor at three businesses in Centereach and Port Jefferson Station on Thursday.

A 60-year-old clerk from Port Jefferson was arrested after selling alcohol to a minor at the Sunoco Station located at 240 Terryville Road in Port Jefferson Staion.

An underage undercover operation was conducted by police on Thursday to verify local business compliance with the sale of alcohol to minors  Two underage agents along with police were sent into nine businesses.

Six of the nine businesses refused to sell alcohol. Clerks at three other stores were arrested and charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child in the first-degree after they sold alcohol to the volunteer police agents.

Police said the clerks at the following stores complied with the law and refused to sell alcohol to a minor:

  • BP gas station, 1258 Route 25, Selden
  • Valero gas station, 1274 Route 25, Selden
  • Mobil gas station, 2033 Route 25, Centereach
  •  Exxon gas station, 2309 Route 25, Centereach
  • BP gas station, Route 25, Centereach
  • Sunoco gas station, 699 Old Town Road, Port Jefferson Station
Clerks at OK Petroleum at 2117 Route 25, Centereach; BP gas station at 3117 Route 347, Centereach and Sunoco, 240 Terryville Road, Port Jefferson Station were arrested for selling alcohol to minors.

The three clerks were and were issued appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip on December 5.
