Patch Blogger: The Forsythia is Blooming in December
This is one for the record books. Mild 60-degree December weather tricks garden into producing March blooms.
I honestly don't think I would have even noticed the spring buds blooming in my yard if it wasn't for a last-minute fall clean-up. We were pretty shocked to see the forsythias blooming in December! This has to be a first!
My figs and lilacs have new buds. The roses are blooming. The currant bush has new leaves. The grape tomato plant, which I thought was dead, has new blossoms and green tomatoes – the plant that gave me three red tomatoes all summer. My parsley didn't look this good all year!
I'm glad I snapped these photos before it was all cleaned up for the winter. Sean and his crew from Four-D Landscape did a great job.

December is back on track now with temperatures expected to drop below freezing through the weekend. The parsley is going in the freezer.
