Sick of Election Junk Mail?

Sound off about mail from candidates in the months leading up to the November election.

Mail from and about candidates is par for the course during election season. But when is it too much?

The picture attached to this question — which we pose to you, the reader — was taken after just one week of mail to a single mailbox.

Among them in that pile, The New York Republican State Committee sent one bashing Rep. Congressman Tim Bishop, D-Southampton. The New York State Democratic Committee did the same, going after challenger Randy Altschuler, including one for his opposition to a woman's right to choose and two allegeding his company's outsourcing of jobs. Then the Republican State Committee fired back with mailings that said Bishop's attacks about sending jobs overseas isn't true.

Prosperty First Inc., which is not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee, has sent out several mailings attacking Bishop's record and endorsing challenger Randy Altschuler — The group even PhotoShopped Nancy Pelosi to look like she is playing Chess.

Altschuler's commttee, Altschuler for Congress, has also sent out several mailings, as has Senator Ken LaValle, R-Port Jefferson.

How much do you receive? Do you read it? Or does it go straight in the trash? Do the messages sway your vote at all? Remind you to vote in November? Tell us in the comments below.

I don't mind the mail, but I hate the phone calls!!! Calls are intrusive, they interrupt your dinner or your family time and should not be allowed if the recipient is on the state "Do Not Call" list. The candidates should have to follow the same rules as any other solicitor.

I hate the mail and the telephone calls. The people in office are wasting your tax dollars, getting ready for there next election.. 6 mos before the elections, the elected officals should not be allowed to do there MASS BILLINGS. This is not for your information, but free political campaigning...Stop elected official from our tax paying free campaigning. I don't care what party we are talking about. The govt says it's have money problems...think what this would save in your tax dollars. STOP 100% of these mailing and have the offical do a accounting of the money spent for these huge mailiings... I can't afford to live on LI with the policial abuse of our MONEY NOT THERES

I'm so sick and tired of it (and the calls!), I'm no longer registered to vote. Not only is it a lot more frequent than it was years ago, the ads are increasingly deceptive, slander attack ads. Until there's a way to optout, I'm staying that way.
