Maureen Walsh Bahou of Setauket, who has been described as "a generous soul whose life was an inspiration to the spirit of friendship, good will, and giving," died Sept. 8 at the age of 57 from a prolonged illness.
According to her Bryant Funeral Home obituary, she was the co-founder of the Medical Mission Group, which was founded to help children in third-world countries. From the obituary:
As mother, sister, cousin, or friend, Maureen’s magnetic personality was an attraction to all individuals, especially the needy and sick. She never cared whether the individual had money, education, or a pair of shoes, and thousands of individuals were honored to call her a friend.
Bahou is survived by her husband Wadie, her son Edward, her daughter Juliet, and her sisters Margaret Phaneuf and Anne Marie Concannon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Medical Mission Group at 134 Grove Street, Pearl River, NY 10965.
Viewing will be at on Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a memorial service at St. James RC Church on Thursday at 11 a.m.
