Have You Seen the Village Scarecrows?

Don't miss one of the best traditions in town. Which scarecrow is your favorite?

Where can you find a minion, Superman and the Cat in the Hat? Only in the village, Stony Brook, that is.

While away a fall afternoon taking a walk through Stony Brook Village's scarecrow competition display, an annual tradition that is now in its 23rd year.

The competition, which opened on Sept. 30 is usually made up of entrants from local scout troops, families and classrooms. Top prize is $300 and visitors can vote until Oct. 31 by picking up a form at any of the village shops.

This year, entrants whose scarecrow display was predominately pink will receive 50 points in honor of breast cancer awareness month.

Winners will be announced on Oct. 31, followed by a quick show from the Spotlight Dance Academy and then the annual children's costume parade.

Flip through our gallery and tell us which scarecrow is your favorite, or better yet, head down there and see them all and cast your vote for these hardworking entrants.
