Students in this workshop will learn the traditional stained glass techniques of cutting, copper foiling, and soldering stained glass, as well as the modern and precise techniques of hand painting enamels onto glass. More than just techniques, this workshop will include demonstrations of layering, lighting, framing, and hanging stained glass, along with design tips and ideas on how to have fun and create contemporary pieces within this historic medium.
Each student in this workshop will complete one 12×12 painted stained glass panel to take home.
Joe Cavalieri’s award winning work has been exhibited in art galleries and museums in the U.S. Europe, India and Australia, including The Society of Arts and Crafts (Boston) and the permanent collection of the Museum of Arts and Design (New York). His public art can be seen at Dixon Place Theater in Manhattan, and permanent installations at many visiting artist residencies. The MTA chose Joseph to design a permanent installations at the Philipse Manor Train Station in Sleepy Hollow (NY). He enjoys sharing his techniques and design perspective, and has been teaching internationally for over four years.
