Setauket Fire Department- Hook and Ladder Santa Run

Each year in December the members of the Setauket Fire Department, as is the tradition in many Fire Departments around Long Island, gear up and head out with lights and sirens escorting Santa Claus around the local streets to deliver candy canes and some holiday cheer to the local kids. As a Volunteer organization, this is one of many things the members of the department do to help serve their community.

Setauket FD is split into 3 Fire Companies (3 stations); Engine Co. 1 (or Station 1) is located on Main Street, Engine Co. 9 (or Station 2) is located on Arrowhead Lane, and Hook & Ladder Co. 1 (Ladder 1 or Station 3) is located on Nicholls Road). While the entire department works together to protect and serve the Setauket community, the Fire District is split in 3 areas with each Company assigned it's own primary response area. Likewise, each Company holds their own independent Santa Run (because of the large size of the Fire District) and this page is dedicated to Hook & Ladder Co. 1 and their Santa Run.

Each year the members of H&L Co. 1 head out with Santa and his helpers standing in the bucket of their Ladder Truck, Ladder 1. Included in the procession is the ambulance, Ambulance 16, the brush truck, Brush 3, the heavy rescue truck, Rescue 6, and the engine, Engine 14.

In 2009 Hook and Ladder started to get a little more with the times and began getting word about the Santa Run out to the community electronically. And now, the community is free to learn more details about each year's Santa Run via the following methods:

Please help spread our message by passing our information on to your friends, family and neighbors in the area. It is our goal to ensure as many kids as possible are able to see Santa on Ladder 1 each year. Also, if you know of any special needs kids that might have trouble seeing Santa on his designated route, please contact us and we'll see if special arrangements can be made.

And lastly, please visit our Facebook page to see which streets we will cover (other streets in Setauket covered by the other companies).

So, essentially that first residential home is being written off as the price of doing business.Read More There goes that property value. Other than as a professional residence, who would want to live by a driveway for that traffic? As for the entrance Village Automotive, that will bring even more traffic to an already busy intersection nearby. 25A is impassable/impossible in that area for large chunks of the day now.

The rezoning is for the acres of undeveloped residential land across from Ann Maries Farm stand,Read More extending down to the wooded area on 25A. A one way entrance would be placed by Village Automotive and a one way exit would come out on N. Country Rd. adjacent to the first residential house.

I the BOE and Union didn't allow the majority of the budget be spent on benefits and salaries maybeRead More there would be money left for supplies. With declining enrollment and cuts to programs for our kids they only ones making out are teachers and staff with too generous salaries and benefits. Vote no on Tuesday!

Seriously? We are asked to send in enough supplies per kid each year to supply 5 kids. Where does itRead More all go? It gets lost, thrown out, or ends up back in the students home via backpack. The problem is not the lack of supplies, but a lack of personal responsibility. But if we send in enough supplies each year for ten or fifteen students, then we might be able to avoid the underlying problem.

everyone should research what all the school administrators are raking in and the multple levels ofRead More staff that exists at TVCSD. It is beyond reasonable to have salaries at that level and multiple administrators and assistants and directors and assistant directors and chairman etc. Teachers earn their fair share!
