Civic Association of the Setaukets and Stony Brook

On Monday, November 4th, the Civic Association of the Setaukets will examine an issue central to the Three Villages: our harbors, bays, and shoreline.

Many of us live along the waters of the Three Villages, whether its on Conscience Bay, Little Bay, West Meadow Creek, Stony Brook Harbor, or Setauket Harbor. And those of us who live further inland, we are never more than a mile or two from coastal waters. Our harbors and waterfront areas are central to our long maritime and colonial history. These waters also provide wonderful recreational opportunities for residents and visitors.

The November meeting will be dedicated to a closer look at our waterfront - the current condition of our local harbors and bays, and what we can do to preserve this important resource. A number of distinguished guests will help guide the discussion:

NYS Assemblyman Steve Englebright, 

Michael Kaufman - attorney, planner and member of the Stony Brook Harbor Task Force,

Lawrence Swanson - Assistant Dean of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at Stony Brook University, and 

Malcolm Bowman - Distinguished Service Professor at Stony brook University's School of Marine and Atmospheric Science.

All are encouraged to attend this important meeting in the Emma S. Clark Library’s Community Room starting at 7:30pm
