On the fluking front, one will have to work through lots of short fish (less than 19.5in) to get a keeper. Bucktails tipped with spearing is the ticket here with standard rigs catching, but not as well. Try deeper water for keeper size fish, 40 - 60 ft along the ledges.
Porgies are also to found on the ledges off Old Field Point of Cranes neck point. Anchor up and chum or drift standard high/low rigs over the dropoffs with small pieces of clam belly. Lots of small Seabass will be in the mix as well and don't be surprised if you pick up a Fluke there as well. You just may want someone in your party fishing for fluke with a bucktail setup while everyone else is fishing for porgies.
Striped bass are still here, but best catches will come on morning or late in the day tides, weekdays too (not much boat traffic). Dropoffs, channels, rocks and places where the current is significant is where you want to hunt for Bass. Bunker chunks, tube and worm, Bunker spoons, are the anwser to your bass problems. Be patient with your Bass endeavors, it takes some time to figure them out. Even when you think you know, it doesn't always pay off. Fish feed and migrate in different locations and this has many variables. Stick to the above mentioned places and you will find them bass.
