Stony Brook Seawolves to Face Townson University in Home Opener

Stony Brook Seawolves will face one of their biggest competitions at the 2013 home opener. The Seawolves, which are rated number 23, will play against number 2, the Towson University Tigers on Saturday September 28th. The Seawolves are coming off of their second loss since entering the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). In previous years the Seawolves dominated their former league, Big South Conference as back-to-back champions or co-champions as well as back-to-back appearances in the NCAA playoffs. However, this season the Seawolves seem to be struggling. Their last game, against Villanova, was lost 35-6 a far cry from their win, 20-10, against the same school during last year's NCAA playoffs. However the Seawolves have had notable losses to thier roster this year including Running Back Miguel Mysonet, now with the Colts practice squad, the unsuccessful appeal of tackle Michael Bamiro request to play one last season and most recently Marcus Coker's unfortunate abdominal injury which has reportedly sidelined him for the rest of the year. Last year Head Coach Priore said that the fans support helps the football team succeed. If that is truly the case then a home game may be just what the team needs to get back on their feet.
