Stony Brook Seawolves Fall To Townsen In First Home game of the 13-14 Season
The Seawolves came out with a bang against at their first home game in the 13-14 season but fell short of a win. In the first quarter the Seawolves defense kept the Townsen Tigers at bay while scoring two touchdowns. In the second quarter the Tigers, desperate to get on the board, settled for a field goal. Townsen got their first touch down about seven minutes later. The Seawolves scored for the last time in the entire game in the second quarter with 39 second left on the clock. The score was 21, Stony Brook, 10, Townsen.
However the Townsen Tigers came back strong in the second half. It all went downhill when Townson punted in their first possession of the third quarter and Stony Brook WR Nick Wagner 'carried' it for a yard before fumbling, but it looked more like it bounced off him. Regardless, Townson's linebacker Monte Gaddis recovered it and the Tigers scored two plays later. The final nail in the coffin was in the fourth quarter when Stony Brooks's QB, Lyle Negron was sack by Townson's Ryan Delair and fumbled the ball. It was then followed by Townson's CB
Donnell Lewis recovering the ball and went 43 yards for a touchdown. The Seawolves were unable to score at all in the second half. The final score was Townsen 35, Stony Brook 21.
It seemed as if the recent loss of players due to injuries could have been the deciding factor to this game. The Seawolves looked as if they were loosing steam as the game went on. While they had more possession time then the Tigers the Seawolves had about 3.3 yards per rush as opposed to the Tigers 5.1The Seawolves will face Bryant Bulldogs, 6 pm on October 5th at home
