Weekend Guide: Tap Kids, Garden Show, Art Auction, and More

Patch picks for weekend activities.

This weekend, a garden show, Tap Kids, Gallery North's new CraftWorks series and several charitable events should make for an action-packed weekend in the Three Village area. Is your group having an event? Post it for free in our calendar here.

Charitable

  • On Friday starting at 7 p.m., the Royal Educational Foundation will hold its annual art auction at Old Field Club to benefit the Port Jefferson school district ($25 admission).
  • The Three Village Community Garden Show is set for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Stony Brook Community Church ($5 admission). It will feature gardening resources, vendors, and displays; a collection of nonperishable food for the St. James R.C. food pantry and pet supplies for Save-A-Pet will be taken.
  • On Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., the organization Hope for Javier will hold a fundraiser at the Setauket Neighborhood House to end Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, featuring raffles, auctions and vendor sales.

  • Friday night is "Lip Sync Night" for Nassakeag kids and families, starting at 6:30 p.m.
  • On Saturday, Messiah Lutheran Preschool will be holding an open house starting at 10 a.m.

Fine Arts & Exhibits

  • Check out the new exhibit "Workmanship Through the Ages" starting Saturday at the Ward Melville Heritage Organization's Educational & Cultural Center.
  • "A Celebration of Color" is the current exhibit showing at Gallery North.
  • Gallery North launches its series "CraftWorks" with a felting class on Sunday at 12 p.m. ($50 plus $10 materials fee).

Music & Entertainment

  • Washington Square Winds will perform a concert at Temple Isaiah on Sunday at 2 p.m.
  • Tap Kids comes to the Staller Center as part of its "Not Just For Kids" series. Showtime is 4 p.m., tickets are $15, and it's recommended for ages 10 and up.
