Trauma Patient Survival Rates Above Statewide Average at SBUMC

Stony Brook University Medical Center boasts a survival rate of 95.15 percent among patients with severe traumatic injuries.

Survival rates for trauma patients at Stony Brook University Medical Center are significantly above the statewide average, according to a report published Monday on HealthCanal.com.

At SBUMC, the survival rate of patients with severe traumatic injuries was 95.15 percent, above the statewide average of 93.81 percent.

The report is based on New York State Trauma Center data from 2007 through 2009, and when the dataset for 2003 to 2006 is taken into account, SBUMC is one of two hospitals statewide to have that distinction in both reporting periods.
